During the reign of the Pala dynasty in the 8th and 9th centuries CE Nalanda University saw global exposure.

Chinese traveler Xuanzang (Hiuen Tsang), visited India in ancient times studied in Nalanda.

One of the star teachers who taught at Nalanda University was Aryabhata.

The university was attacked thrice by the invaders- Huns, Gaudas and Bhaktiyar Khilji.
