The Special Marriage Act
It allows marriage of people of any faith,
Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Jains, and Buddhists
, across India
The bride and groom must be a minimum 18 and 21 years of age respectively.
They should not be in a Prohibited relationship (Include relationships by full, half and uterine blood)
Parties of the marriage have to give written notice to a
Marriage Officer
of the district.
The parties need
3 witnesses
to sign a declaration form before the Marriage Officer to solemnize the marriage
