Solomon Islands

It consists of a double chain of volcanic islands and coral atolls in Melanesia.

The country gets its name from the Solomon Islands archipelago, which includes the North Solomon Islands (part of Papua New Guinea).

It is directly adjacent to Papua New Guineato the northwest, Australia to the northeast, New Caledoniaand Vanuatu to the southeast.

Honiara, the capital, is located on the largest island, Guadalcanal.
