Nobel prize for chemistry 

It is awarded to Moungi G. Bawendi, Louis E. Brus and Alexei I. Ekimov “for the discovery and synthesis of Quantum Dots”.

Quantum Dots are tiny nanoparticles; their size determines their properties.

11 million Swedish kronor (Equal to INR 8,31,84,870) will be shared equally between the Laureates.

This research can be helpful in Cancer treatments, Computer monitors and television screens, Photovoltaic cell efficiency, etc.

Indian-born Biologist Venkatraman Ramakrishnan received the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 2009 along with Thomas A. Steitz and Ada Yonath for studies of the “Structure and Function of the Ribosome.”
