Location of Solomon Islands

The Solomon Islands is a country in the southwestern Pacific Ocean in Oceania.

It consists of a double chain of volcanic islands and coral atolls in Melanesia.

The country gets its name from the Solomon Islands archipelago, which includes the North Solomon Islands (part of Papua New Guinea).

It is directly adjacent to Papua New Guinea to the northwest, Australia to the northeast, New Caledonia and Vanuatu to the southeast.

Honiara, the capital, is located on the largest island, Guadalcanal.
