50 Years of
Project Tiger
Success or Failure?
Project Tiger, a scheme of MoEFCC, was launched in 1973 to provide havens for tigers in India’s national parks.
Initiated with the 9 tiger reserves, India now has 53 Tiger reserves in the country.
India doubled tiger population in 2018 and will translocate tigers to Cambodia.
Sariska, Palamau, Satkosia, Buxa and Indravati tiger reserves have seen decline in tiger population.
