65% of corridors in South India are located in protected areas or reserved forests.

Forest Cover in Corridors

Only 24% of the identified corridors in India have complete forest cover.

Significance of the Corridors:

It ensures the genetic viability of elephants and regeneration of forests via dispersal of foods.

Threat to Corridors

40% of elephant reserves are vulnerable as they are not located within protected areas.
